Writing for the Graphic Arts Market

From Printing World I went on to become editor of two of the UK’s leading monthly print titles and in 1989 ‘jumped the fence’ with a move into PR, joining a small company in Surrey that would become one of Europe’s most successful specialist graphic arts media relations companies. During 21 years I ran or was involved in every imaginable PR activity for clients, from start-up businesses to major corporations, operating in the UK or worldwide.

Today, I work from home and provide a specialist writing/advice service for people involved in the graphic arts market, whether they require a press release to launch a product, a feature article on a customer installation or copy for a newsletter, brochure, website, leaflet, flyer ...

“I’ve worked with Philip for several years across a number of companies. His incisive writing style, superb industry knowledge and media contacts, coupled with outstanding interpersonal skills, helped me to transform the coverage we obtained, both in terms of quantity but also in terms of the quality of angle, interest and relevance.  Philip is a great example of how an investment in a top resource can make PR the most effective marketing tool of them all."

Philip A Cullimore, Regional Managing Director Europe, Africa & Middle East, Eastman Kodak.

"Philip's energy, contacts and abilities are fantastic tools for any company looking to raise their profile in the graphic arts market.  He’s a tremendous asset to any manufacturer looking to sell more in this sector and would I recommend him unreservedly!"

Barry Corbett, Managing Director, Blockfoil, UK.

“Our first experience in active PR was working with Philip and I always appreciated his way of skilfully promoting our messages to the market, including helping to make the industry better understand the importance of the printing blanket.  Philip always came up with very creative ideas for our PR stories and cooperated well with our European distributors in order to produce interesting case studies.  I enjoyed working with Philip also because of his in-depth industry knowledge, professionalism and friendliness."

Manuela Re, Marketing and Product Manager PB, Trelleborg Engineered Systems, Italy.

Trouble Shooting For Printers

In 1988, while editor of Inplant & Instant Printer, I had the idea of producing a text book that provided solutions to everyday problems encountered by printers in their work. Two years later, having interviewed more than forty experts in various print related fields, Trouble Shooting For Printers was published. It received coverage and comment throughout the European graphic arts media, who all seemed to think that such a book should have been written long before.  Though out of date, I am now expecting demand for this title to surpass all my wildest expectations…
